Caviar

Cities burn, racism on a bender
left of center
they killed Fred Hampton
before he became a true mentor
futuristic splendor, white washed
for certain members of society
cops eyeing me
feeling undisputed
wishing my color was muted
so I didn’t have to hide behind music
liquor stores and food deserts
have black and brown people
falling off the chain like lepers
dead enders like crime and property
progression is a novelty
school taught us oppression was over
reality is sober
nothing is equal
decades repeat the same sequels
had to unlearn what they teach you

I am my brothers keeper
Armed to the teeth
I hope my words reach you
Nothing is equal
until we’re all able
to eat caviar at the same table

Take what you need
on a regular basis
the true power’s hidden
behind the invisible faces
life is always
close enough to chase it
happiness is there
but you never taste it
replaced it with Jordan’s
and fresh laces
brothers and uncles
fed the prison system
when all they needed
was someone to teach 'em and listen
we protested and got black listed
seen as losers
never to obtain a clean future
fighting for scraps
forced to maneuver with shooters
or become entertainers & hoopers
the system is rigged
because oppression is a lucrative gig, fuck the pigs
